Book Review // Judges Volume Two edited by Michael Carroll

It felt like it was time to get back into Judge Dredd.

I've got a few Dredd books sitting on the shelf waiting for me, and Judges Volume Two had been waiting the longest. So, eventually, I had to stop ignoring it and pick it up!

And I'm bloody glad I did.

And, naturally, I'm already wondering what bits I can nick for Sector 102...

Meet Judge Mal Folio: The Judge Who Balances the Books

Who keeps the Judges paid, equipped and on the streets?

Meet Judge Mal Folio, Sector 102's Accounts Judge—and probably the last person you want looking too closely at your finances.

While Street Judges chase perps, Folio follows the money. Tax evasion, corporate fraud, missing credits and suspicious transactions… if the numbers don't add up, he's coming to investigate.

But in a sector as messy as 102, what happens when the Accounts Judge starts looking too closely at Kelp Pharmacy?

The latest Adventures with Peps lore deep dive is now live.

The Ledger is watching.

Comic Review // Judge Dredd: Titan

Warning: Dredd timeline anomaly detected! 🚨 I know I'm supposed to be reading Judge Dredd in order, but Titan landed in my collection and I couldn't resist. Ex-Judges, Wally Squad, Space Corps, aliens, Dirty Frank and a Dredd who suddenly feels a whole lot older... this one had everything I love about the Dreddverse. And, naturally, it's given me far too many ideas for Sector 102. Dive into my latest review and see why I couldn't put this one down!

Audio Review // Crime Chronicles: Stranger Than Truth by David Bishop

What happens when a fictional serial killer steps out of the pages of a book and starts murdering people in Mega-City One? Crime Chronicles: Stranger Than Truth brings back one of my favourite oddities, Slick Dickens, in a wonderfully twisted Judge Dredd mystery. I've also been thinking about how this whole idea could sneak its way into Sector 102... because apparently I can't read a Judge Dredd story anymore without stealing ideas for my own world!

Comic Review // Missionary Man: Going South — God, Guns & Mutants

What do you get when you mix a preacher, mutants, nuclear wasteland and a whole lot of bullets? Missionary Man! I've finally pulled Goin' South off the shelf, and it turns out it was exactly the sort of Cursed Earth madness I needed. Great artwork, brilliant post-apocalyptic Western vibes and, naturally, plenty of mutants. And yes... I'm already wondering how I can get some of these nightmares into Sector 102.

Comic Review // Devlin Waugh: Swimming in Blood

Vampires, demons, flower arranging and a Vatican Exorcist Assassin walk into Mega-City One... Yep, we're back with Devlin Waugh! One of my favourite 2000 AD characters, Swimming in Blood was exactly the warm-up I needed before diving back into Judge Dredd. It's violent, ridiculous, stylish and gloriously weird—and it's left me wanting much, much more Devlin. Come find out why this collection has reignited my 2000 AD itch!

Comic Review // Judge Dredd: The Cape and Cowl Crimes

What happens when superheroes decide to fight crime in Mega-City One? Judge Dredd isn't impressed! The Cape and Cowl Crimes throws Dredd into a world of wannabe heroes, Kleggs, bat-gliders, vigilantes and some wonderfully ridiculous comic-book chaos. I picked this one up from my local library and settled in for an evening of Dredd—and while it wasn't perfect, there are some seriously fun stories hiding inside. Come see which ones hit the mark... and which ones deserved a sentence!

Sector 102. // Kenny Who?

Kenny Who? is one of those obscure Judge Dredd characters who started out as a joke but ended up becoming a surprisingly memorable part of the wider 2000 AD universe. While he never achieved the fame of Judge Dredd himself, Kenny's appearances offered sharp satire, industry commentary, and some of the funniest stories ever published in the Judge Dredd setting.

Chief Quartermaster Kara Swole has never let blindness slow her down.

A former Atlantic Defence Division armourer, Swole lost both eyes fighting mutant pirates beyond Mega-City One's sea walls. Declared unfit for field duty, she instead transferred to Sector House 102, where she now oversees the sector's vast armouries.

Feared by careless Judges and respected by everyone else, Swole can reportedly identify a faulty Lawgiver by sound alone.

And if the rumours are true...

She knows exactly who's walking into her armoury before they say a word.

Sector 102 // Watch Commander Kinsky

Mega-City One never sleeps, it doesn’t rest, it doesn’t slow and it doesn’t forgive. But there is a time…when it changes. Between 2200 and 0600 hours… the city exhales something darker. Crime spikes. Signals go dead. Calls stack faster than they can be answered and even the most hardened Judges feel it, that shift in the air. They call it…The Graveyard Shift.
