Judge Dredd - I am the LAW! - Rogue Judge - Battle Report

Hey, Dreddheads! It's time to get back into Mega-City One with a quick Judge Dredd battle report. One of the things I've wanted to do for a while is take some of the old Mongoose Publishing Judge Dredd missions and see how they work with the newer Warlord Games Judge Dredd rules. So, where better to start than with a good old-fashioned Judge-on-Judge smackdown?

I've taken the old Judge Duel mission and given it a Sector 102 twist. I'm calling it Rogue Judge.

I Am the Law... Aren't I?

Something has gone very wrong in Sector 102. Judge Prince has gone completely futsie and, rather than upholding the law, he's started killing citizens. That's obviously a problem. Enter Judge Silar. He's been dispatched to deal with the rogue Judge and bring him in. Unfortunately, Judge Prince isn't particularly interested in going quietly. So there is only one thing left to do...and apparently, today that means two Judges are going to shoot each other in the face.

I've played out the whole thing on the tabletop, and you can watch the battle unfold over on the Adventures with Peps YouTube channel.

If you're enjoying the Sector 102 side of Adventures with Peps, this is exactly the sort of little scenario I'm hoping to do more of. Quick games, ridiculous situations and plenty of opportunities to throw some Judges, mutants and criminals onto the table.

The Forces

This one is deliberately simple. One player takes Judge Prince. The other takes Judge Silar. Both Judges use the standard Street Judge stat card, with each player choosing either Gunfighter or Brawler as their skill. That's it. No massive army lists. No complicated special rules. Just two Judges, some terrain and a serious disagreement.

Setting Up the Duel

The game takes place in a dense part of Sector 102, so my advice is simple: Fill the table with terrain! The battlefield is 24" x 24", with the two Judges starting 24" apart and in line of sight of one another. You can use activation chips or simply roll off to decide who gets the first activation. Then it's time to attempt the arrest.

Special Rules

There is one rather important change from a normal Judge encounter. Neither Judge can attempt to arrest the other. Judge Prince has gone full futsie, so there isn't really much point in asking him to put his hands behind his back. This is a duel, and it's going to be a fight to the death.

Victory Conditions

There is only one way to win: Take out the other Judge.

If Judge Silar wins, it's a pretty grim victory. He's had to kill a fellow Judge in order to restore order. If Judge Prince wins, well...his career is probably about to come to a very abrupt end anyway, because backup is coming.

A Perfect Little Judge Dredd Game

And that's really the point of this scenario. It's a tiny game that can be played in around 20–30 minutes, making it a great little introduction to the rules. You've got two familiar models, a small table and one very straightforward objective. Shoot the other Judge.

Simple. Brutal. Very Judge Dredd. I've recorded the whole thing as a battle report, so if you want to see whether Judge Prince or Judge Silar comes out on top, go watch the battle unfold, and if you enjoy it, don't just watch and disappear into the Mega-City crowds! Leave me a comment, let me know what you thought, and hit subscribe.

I'm building more and more of Sector 102, and there are plenty more Judges, mutants, weirdos and bad decisions waiting to hit the tabletop.

Until next time...I AM THE LAW!

Cheers!
