Comic Review // Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters
Classic Peps move… pick up a Star Wars comic from the library and only realise afterwards that I've jumped into the middle of the bloody series! But you know what? I bloody loved it.
War of the Bounty Hunters gave me Boba Fett, Han Solo, bounty hunters, Luke struggling with his past, and a surprisingly great Leia and Lando story.
Comic Review // Petrol Head — Speed, Steel, and the Heart of a Dying World
Petrol Head is a loud, colourful, high-octane blast of sci-fi fun. Packed with robots, racing, explosions and a surprisingly emotional story, this comic delivers far more than I expected. The artwork is fantastic, the world is wonderfully bonkers, and underneath all that speed is a story about survival, humanity and what happens when technology outlives its purpose. A seriously fun read and one I’m very glad I took for a spin.
Comic Review // Judge Dredd: Titan
Warning: Dredd timeline anomaly detected! 🚨 I know I'm supposed to be reading Judge Dredd in order, but Titan landed in my collection and I couldn't resist. Ex-Judges, Wally Squad, Space Corps, aliens, Dirty Frank and a Dredd who suddenly feels a whole lot older... this one had everything I love about the Dreddverse. And, naturally, it's given me far too many ideas for Sector 102. Dive into my latest review and see why I couldn't put this one down!
Comic Review // Missionary Man: Going South — God, Guns & Mutants
What do you get when you mix a preacher, mutants, nuclear wasteland and a whole lot of bullets? Missionary Man! I've finally pulled Goin' South off the shelf, and it turns out it was exactly the sort of Cursed Earth madness I needed. Great artwork, brilliant post-apocalyptic Western vibes and, naturally, plenty of mutants. And yes... I'm already wondering how I can get some of these nightmares into Sector 102.
Comic Review // Judge Dredd: The Cape and Cowl Crimes
What happens when superheroes decide to fight crime in Mega-City One? Judge Dredd isn't impressed! The Cape and Cowl Crimes throws Dredd into a world of wannabe heroes, Kleggs, bat-gliders, vigilantes and some wonderfully ridiculous comic-book chaos. I picked this one up from my local library and settled in for an evening of Dredd—and while it wasn't perfect, there are some seriously fun stories hiding inside. Come see which ones hit the mark... and which ones deserved a sentence!
Comic Review // Predator vs. Black Panther
Some comics are simply fun to read. Others leave your imagination running wild long after you've closed the final page. Predator vs. Black Panther did exactly that for me. With stunning artwork, an entertaining crossover, and enough inspiration to send my mind racing with ideas for Sector 102, this was a comic that delivered on every level. Here's why it might just have inspired my next great monster.
Back to a Galaxy long ago…Star Wars: Dark Droids Review
Can a galaxy full of trusted droids suddenly become the greatest threat of all? Star Wars: Dark Droids takes a surprisingly creepy dive into horror, delivering corrupted machines, plenty of action, and a heartfelt story centred on Lando and Lobot. While it may not leave a lasting mark on the wider Star Wars universe, it's an entertaining crossover with fantastic artwork and a premise that's hard to resist.
I Read Hellboy Out of Order... It's Working. Hellboy: The Crooked Man and Others – Review
I still haven't figured out the "correct" order to read Hellboy... and after finishing The Crooked Man and Others, I'm not convinced there is one. Appalachian witches, ghost pirates, ancient gods and some of the creepiest folklore I've read in comics make this an easy recommendation. It also gave me a notebook full of ideas for Sector 102—which is probably the highest compliment I can give it.
I Read Hellboy Out of Order... It's Working: The Silver Lantern Club Review
I'm still reading Hellboy completely out of order... and somehow it keeps getting better. The Silver Lantern Club swaps Big Red for ghost stories, occult investigators, and one of the most intriguing secret societies I've come across in the Mignolaverse. It might just be my favourite stop on this wonderfully backwards reading journey yet.
Young Hellboy: The Hidden Land – Adventures Begin
Young Hellboy: The Hidden Land is a wonderfully fun pulp adventure packed with hidden ruins, ancient monsters, vampires, and forgotten mythology. Seeing a younger, more curious Hellboy alongside Professor Bruttenholm is an absolute delight, while Scarlett Santiago makes an excellent addition to the growing Hellboy universe. Charming, mysterious, and full of adventure, this is another reminder of why I keep coming back to Mike Mignola's world.

The Alien: Black, White & Blood – Treasury Edition is a stripped-back nightmare that proves you don’t need colour to feel terror. Through three brutal, beautifully illustrated stories, this collection leans into shadow, silence, and splashes of blood (with an unsettling hint of green) to explore humanity, arrogance, and survival in a universe that does not care. Smart, savage, and dripping with atmosphere, this is Alien at its most raw, and I loved every horrifying page.
