Book Review // Angels of Caliban by Gav Thorpe
Night Lords, Dark Angels and Gav Thorpe. What more could I possibly want from a Horus Heresy novel?
In my latest Adventures with Peps book review, I'm diving into Angels of Caliban. A story packed with Primarchs, political intrigue, ancient grudges and some major revelations about the Fallen. From Luther's continued development to Konrad Curze stealing the show, there's plenty to get excited about!
Plus, all that backstabbing and power-grabbing has got me thinking... could a would-be king trying to protect his people inspire a new Sector 102 adventure?
Come and find out!
Audio Drama // The Sigillite by Chris Wraight
Audio drama again fans! I promise I do other things as well haha. Malcador takes centre stage, there's plenty of juicy lore, and we get a glimpse behind the curtain of one of the most mysterious characters in the Imperium.
Come on let’s go!
Audio Review // Distant Echoes of Old Night by Rob Sanders
In Distant Echoes of Old Night, Rob Sanders unleashes Chaplain Murnau and a terrifying force of Destroyers on the surviving Imperial Fists. We're talking claustrophobic corridors, brutal close-quarters combat, and enough biological nastiness to make you think twice about breathing.
Audio Review // Army of One by Rob Sanders
Ever bought a Warhammer audiobook that was over before you'd even got comfortable?
My latest Horus Heresy listen is Army of One by Rob Sanders, tucked away in the Silent War anthology. An Eversor Assassin unleashed by Malcador? Now THAT sounds like a cracking story!
Shame it barely has time to get started before it's over.
Audio Review // The Purge by Anthony Reynolds
I've been dipping into the Horus Heresy audiobook collection Silent War, and this time it's the turn of the Word Bearers!
In The Purge, Anthony Reynolds gives us Sor Talgron — a warrior who's beginning to question Lorgar's grand scheme. And bloody hell, it's refreshing to see the Word Bearers treated as more than just moustache-twirling fanatics!
Audio Drama // Templar by John French
A tale of Sigismund, Imperial Fists, brutal duels, treacherous Word Bearers and Daemons. Templar has plenty going for it, but does it stick the landing? Let’s get into this Horus Heresy audio drama and find out!
Audio Review // Wolf Hunt by Graham McNeill
I wasn't expecting Wolf Hunt to be a sequel to The Outcast Dead, but bloody hell, I'm glad it is. Severian, an ex-Luna Wolf, is being hunted across Terra by the mysterious Yasu Nagasena, giving us a Horus Heresy story with a little more stealth and a lot less punching.
I absolutely loved this one. If you enjoyed The Outcast Dead, this is one you don't want to miss. My latest Horus Heresy audiobook review is up on Adventures with Pep
Audio Review // Horus Heresy Grey Angel by John French
I bloody loved the Night Lords story, so I had to jump back in, but this time we're heading into the early days of the Grey Knights.
Grey Angel is short, packed with Horus Heresy lore, Dark Angels, divided loyalties and enough Loken goodness to keep me happy.
My latest audiobook review is now ready for your review.
Audio Review // The Watcher by Christian Z. Dunn
What happens when you send the Space Wolves to spy on Konrad Curze? Probably nothing good...
The Watcher is a short, brutal Horus Heresy audio tale that uncovers the fate of a Watch Pack sent to keep an eye on the Night Haunter. It's dark, nasty and wonderfully Night Lords, and this fan of Curze's twisted Legion enjoyed every minute. Find out why this little 20-minute story earned a big thumbs up from Peps!
Audio Review // Eye of Terra: The Final Compliance of Sixty-Three Fourteen by Guy Haley
The Final Compliance of Sixty-Three Fourteen surprised me. Rather than focusing on Horus himself, Guy Haley gives us a planetary governor facing an impossible choice: betray the Emperor or watch his world be crushed by the Warmaster. A short, character-driven story that shows the very human cost of the Horus Heresy. A fitting end to my journey through Eye of Terra.
Audio Book // Iron Corpses by David Annandale
What happens after the battle ends? Iron Corpses answers that question by placing us in the boots of an Iron Warriors Warsmith struggling to survive the toxic aftermath of Tallarn. With a fascinating traitor perspective, plenty of tension, and one particularly haunting encounter, this short audio drama proves that some of the Horus Heresy's best stories happen long after the guns fall silent.
Audio Review // The Eagle's Talon by John French
What happens when the Imperial Fists are forced to fight in the shadows instead of standing proudly behind their walls? The Eagle's Talon is a tense, cleverly presented audio drama told through recovered vox transmissions, creating one of the most immersive Horus Heresy stories I've listened to so far. Add in some unexpected moral conflict within the Imperial Fists, and this short tale becomes a real hidden gem.
Audio Review // The Herald of Sanguinius by Andy Smillie
Could I actually be turning into a Blood Angels fan? The Herald of Sanguinius is another fantastic short story from Andy Smillie, proving that you don't need explosive battles to tell a compelling Warhammer tale. Set during the uneasy days of Imperium Secundus, it's packed with tension, character development, and fascinating lore that left me wanting a full novel. Here's why this twenty-minute audio drama made such an impression.
Audio Review // Eye of Terra: Sins of the Father by Andy Smillie
A story may only last a few minutes, but that doesn't mean it can't leave an impression. Sins of the Father offers a thoughtful glimpse into the mind of Sanguinius as he reflects on the strengths, flaws, and uncertain future of his beloved Blood Angels. It may be too short to recommend as a standalone purchase, but for Horus Heresy fans it's a fascinating character piece that's well worth experiencing.
Book Review // The First Heretic by Aaron Dembski-Bowden
In the First Heretic we learn that Lorgar was always the first of his brothers to fall. We discover some secrets of Cadia's past and we travel into the Eye of Terror for the first time. Exciting!
Book Review: Fulgrim by Graham McNeill
The Emperor’s Children have entered the fray, and it is not going to be pretty.
Book Review: The Flight of the Eisenstein by James Swallow
Flight of the Eisenstein - The introduction tale of Garro to the 30k story arc and a great introduction to the Deathguard.
Book Review: False Gods by Graham McNeill
Here we go, book two of the Horus Heresy series: the book where Horus falls and the beginnings of a rebellion start.
Book Review: Horus Rising by Dan Abnett
Just as the series is completed I start a fresh at the beginning and start a fresh the march to Heresy!
