Book Review // Angels of Caliban by Gav Thorpe
Night Lords, Dark Angels and Gav Thorpe. What more could I possibly want from a Horus Heresy novel?
In my latest Adventures with Peps book review, I'm diving into Angels of Caliban. A story packed with Primarchs, political intrigue, ancient grudges and some major revelations about the Fallen. From Luther's continued development to Konrad Curze stealing the show, there's plenty to get excited about!
Plus, all that backstabbing and power-grabbing has got me thinking... could a would-be king trying to protect his people inspire a new Sector 102 adventure?
Come and find out!
Audio Drama // The Sigillite by Chris Wraight
Audio drama again fans! I promise I do other things as well haha. Malcador takes centre stage, there's plenty of juicy lore, and we get a glimpse behind the curtain of one of the most mysterious characters in the Imperium.
Come on let’s go!
Audio Review // Lost Sons by James Swallow
Lost Sons takes us to Baal, where just thirty Blood Angels are left behind while the rest of the Legion heads for Signus Prime. Then communication is lost, loyalties are tested, Malcador’s Knight Errants turn up, and suddenly the Blood Angels are painting their armour black and crossing out their Legion symbols.
What is happening? Let’s find out.
Audio Review // Ghosts Speak Not & Patience by James Swallow
This week, I'm back in the Horus Heresy with James Swallow's Ghosts Speak Not and Patience. Two connected short stories bringing us back to the Knights Errant, the surviving loyal Death Guard, and the fascinating Amendera Kendel.
It's great to catch up with these forgotten threads of the Heresy, but there's something darker going on here too. The Imperium is changing, the old ways are disappearing, and even those fighting for the Emperor can't go back to what they were.
Audio Review // Distant Echoes of Old Night by Rob Sanders
In Distant Echoes of Old Night, Rob Sanders unleashes Chaplain Murnau and a terrifying force of Destroyers on the surviving Imperial Fists. We're talking claustrophobic corridors, brutal close-quarters combat, and enough biological nastiness to make you think twice about breathing.
Audio Review // Army of One by Rob Sanders
Ever bought a Warhammer audiobook that was over before you'd even got comfortable?
My latest Horus Heresy listen is Army of One by Rob Sanders, tucked away in the Silent War anthology. An Eversor Assassin unleashed by Malcador? Now THAT sounds like a cracking story!
Shame it barely has time to get started before it's over.
Audio Review // The Purge by Anthony Reynolds
I've been dipping into the Horus Heresy audiobook collection Silent War, and this time it's the turn of the Word Bearers!
In The Purge, Anthony Reynolds gives us Sor Talgron — a warrior who's beginning to question Lorgar's grand scheme. And bloody hell, it's refreshing to see the Word Bearers treated as more than just moustache-twirling fanatics!
Audio Drama // Templar by John French
A tale of Sigismund, Imperial Fists, brutal duels, treacherous Word Bearers and Daemons. Templar has plenty going for it, but does it stick the landing? Let’s get into this Horus Heresy audio drama and find out!
Audio Review // Wolf Hunt by Graham McNeill
I wasn't expecting Wolf Hunt to be a sequel to The Outcast Dead, but bloody hell, I'm glad it is. Severian, an ex-Luna Wolf, is being hunted across Terra by the mysterious Yasu Nagasena, giving us a Horus Heresy story with a little more stealth and a lot less punching.
I absolutely loved this one. If you enjoyed The Outcast Dead, this is one you don't want to miss. My latest Horus Heresy audiobook review is up on Adventures with Pep
Audio Review // Luna Mendax by Graham McNeill
Garviel Loken is back… and bloody hell, this one hit harder than I expected.
Luna Mendax is a short Horus Heresy audiobook, but it packs a surprising emotional punch as Loken struggles with everything he's lost and the ghosts of his past.
Abandoned biodomes, Tarik Torgaddon, trauma, friendship and one very battered Luna Wolf.
Audio Review // The Gates of Terra by Nick Kyme.
Another super-quick Horus Heresy listen!
The Gates of Terra by Nick Kyme gives us Ultramarines, the defence of Terra and a very suspicious Malcador. I enjoyed it, but bloody hell… this one is short!
Audio Review: Eye of Terra: Red-Marked by Nick Kyme
Red-Marked follows Sergeant Aeonid Thiel as he defies orders once again to hunt down traitor activity on the fringes of Ultramar. Nick Kyme delivers a fast-paced audio drama packed with action, sharp character moments, and more of the Horus Heresy’s best maverick Ultramarine.
Book Review: Eye of Terra: Ironfire by Rob Sanders
Ironfire follows Warsmith Idriss Krendl as he attempts to reclaim his honour with a devastating new siege strategy after his defeat at Schadenhold. Rob Sanders delivers a brutal Iron Warriors tale packed with destruction, high stakes, and classic Legion warfare.
Audio Review // Massacre by Aaron Dembski-Bowden
Massacre is a fast, brutal snapshot of the Night Lords at their peak. Aaron Dembski-Bowden drops Talos and First Claw into the carnage of the Dropsite Massacre, delivering dark humour, ruthless efficiency, and unapologetic violence. It’s everything you want from a Night Lords story, sharp, savage, and far too short once it gets going.
Audio Review // Wolf Mother by Graham McNeill
This marks the final audio drama in my run through War Without End, and Wolf Mother absolutely promises to go out swinging. An intense rescue mission involving Alivia Sureka and Severian.
Audio Review // Horus Heresy: Chirurgeon by Nick Kyme
Excited to dive into another Fabius Bile story. As one of my favourite villains of 40k, it is always enjoyable to experience the 30k "Loyal" version. I'm keen on Reynold's version of him, so I genuinely hope Kyme does him Justice.
Book Review // Horus Heresy: A Safe and Shadowed Place by Guy Haley
The last time we heard from the Night Lords fleet, they were scattered and leaderless in the wake of the disastrous Thramas Crusade. Now, a sizeable portion of the Legion find themselves drawn to a mysterious beacon on the far side of the galaxy.
Book Review // Horus Heresy: Daemonology by Chris Wraight
The Death Guard have already embraced treachery, but this story follows their Primarch as he continues upon the road that will eventually doom his Legion to a plague-wracked damnation.
Book Review // Horus Heresy: Allegiance by Chris Wraight
This story continues a pair of stories from Chris Wraight's Heresy novels, and shows how loyalty and allegiance is never easy during a civil war, and how one event can change the way a warrior views the universe – and himself.
Book Review // Horus Heresy Gunsight by James Swallow
A killer loose aboard the most dangerous ship in the galaxy. A loyal crewman trapped among the corrupted. And a mission that’s failed every time it’s been attempted. Gunsight is a slow-burn descent into the shadows of the Vengeful Spirit.
