Audio Review // The Rage War Finale – Alien vs. Predator: Armageddon by Tim Lebbon
Look at me, I actually finished a whole series!
The Rage War by Tim Lebbon wraps up with Alien vs. Predator: Armageddon, the explosive conclusion to a trilogy set in the far future of the Alien universe. If you haven’t caught my earlier reviews, here are the quick links:
📘 Book One – Predator: Incursion
📙 Book Two – Alien: Invasion
So far, I’ve really enjoyed this series. It’s not rewriting the Alien mythos, but it’s been a consistently fun, action-heavy ride. Before I waffle on too long, let’s jump into the details.
Book Details
Title: Alien vs. Predator: Armageddon (The Rage War #3)
Author: Tim Lebbon
Length: 11 hrs 31 mins (Audible edition)
Fluff:
The Rage have launched a massive assault on the Human Sphere, wielding the galaxy’s deadliest weapons: the Xenomorphs. Having fled centuries before, they now return for revenge and conquest. Humanity’s only hope may lie with an unexpected ally: the Predators. But even their combined might might not be enough. The fate of Earth could rest on one being: Liliya of the Rage.

Review
Wow, what a finale!
This was a satisfying way to close out the trilogy. With a tighter cast and fewer locations, Armageddon moves at a brisk pace and feels more cinematic than the earlier books — almost like listening to a season finale of a sci-fi TV show.
Highlights
More Predator action! Finally, the Yautja get the spotlight they deserve. We see different clans, their fighting styles, and even get a tease of the Predator homeworld (fingers crossed we get a novel set there someday).
The smaller scope works wonders. With fewer threads to juggle, Lebbon delivers faster pacing and some genuinely thrilling set pieces.
Lowlights
The ending feels predictable and a little rushed — like it needed another hour to really land. It’s left open-ended, which makes me wonder if Lebbon had plans for more.
The Xenomorphs could have been scarier. They’re more like cannon fodder here, though the concept of them being controlled as an organised army is clever, and something explored in Nightmare Asylum back in the day.
Final Thoughts
Overall, The Rage War trilogy delivers precisely what it promises: fast-paced, pulpy sci-fi with just enough horror to keep your pulse up. It’s not trying to be groundbreaking; it’s just a fun, explosive ride through the Alien vs. Predator universe.
If you’re after an easy, action-packed listen full of space battles, monstrous aliens, and interspecies alliances, this is well worth your time.
