A town called Whiteley
Secrets of Jenkins Creek
Beyond the walls of Sector 102, tucked away along the mist-shrouded waters of Jenkins Creek, lies Whiteley — a small fishing township where old traditions die hard and some secrets are best left beneath the water.
Built on the bones of an older world, Whiteley is a place of cobbled streets, weather-beaten buildings, black shingle beaches and rust-coloured vegetation. Its fishermen make a living from the creek, catching mutant fish and trading their goods with the inhabitants of Sector 102. Life is hard, mutations are surprisingly rare, and the community has learned to survive in a world that rarely offers second chances.
But Whiteley has its own customs.
September is known as the Thinning Month, when the days shorten, the mists arrive earlier and the townsfolk prepare for ancient ceremonies. During the Silent Catch, fishermen venture onto the dark waters in silence, wearing strange head coverings fashioned from enormous curled sea-snail shells. Whatever they bring back is placed in the town square's Stone Trough.
It is never sold. It is never eaten.
And nobody seems particularly keen to explain why.
Whiteley is part of my Sector 102 project, a Judge Dredd-inspired world of miniatures, characters, strange locations and stories from the fringes of Mega-City One. This is where I bring that world to life through miniature painting, modelling and a growing collection of tales from the Cursed Earth.
Take a look around Whiteley. Meet its people, explore its strange traditions, and keep an eye on Jenkins Creek.
There's more to this little fishing town than meets the eye.
