Beer Review 106 // Even More Pecan Pie by Evil Twin

I'm loving the trip down memory lane and finally clearing an over the top backlog of beer reviews. Judging on how many of these are American based brews I must have recently travelled to the USA. Also, I can only assume I had visited my favourite Albany bottleshop, as I know they have a large enough Evil Twin stockpile to have supplied me with this many reviews in such a short time frame. Today I chat about Evil Twin's Even More Pecan Pie Jesus.

Details

Name: Even More Pecan Pie Jesus

Style: Imperial Stout

Brewery: Evil Twin Brewing

Country: USA/Denmark but mainly the USA.

ABV: 12 %

Commercial Fluff: Imperial Stout brewed with Molasses and with Pecan Extract added A few times in the history of craft beer a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually, the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch-black colour, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, molasses, pecan extract and obviously only made in limited amounts. People – this is the taste of rare!

Own Opinion

This is a big beer, let's take a moment and ignore the 12% tagline on this and let's just talk about the beer. It pours like the deepest black I have seen outside of motor oil! The head game on this brew is strong producing a thick creamy head of chocolate coloured bubbles that hang around for a while. The aroma is bold offering up a nuttiest that must be the pecans, then a sweet melted brown sugar hit, before opening-up for dark roasted notes to kick in like coffee and booze. My fear that this would be crazy sweet was unfounded as it was well-rounded thanks to the bitter, burnt malts combating the sugary sweetness. It coats the mouth and lingers in the best sort of way and under no circumstances are you going to rush this beer, curl up on the sofa sick on preferred Alien film and relax. Golden.
